Hasil Pertandingan FA Cup: Southampton Vs Man United 0-3

Manchester United memang masih terlalu kuat bagi klub Liga Championship, Southampton. Padahal, MU hanya mengandalkan beberapa pemain mudanya. MU menang 3-0 dan lolos ke putaran keempat piala FA.

Gol pembuka MU terjadi pada menit ke-21. John O'Shea menanduk sepak pojok Ryan Giggs. Bola sundulan kena mistar gawang dan memantul, kemudian bola pantulan itu disundul oleh Danny Welbeck kembali. Gol pun tercipta.

Pada menit ke-37, Southampton harus kehilangan satu pemain, yaitu Matthew Paterson. Dia mengarahkan kakinya ke arah Nemanja Vidic sehingga wasit memberikannya kartu merah. Sampai selesai babak pertama, gol belum ada tercipta dari kedua klub.

Pada menit ke-48, MU menambah gol lagi lewat tendangan penalti dari Nani. Awalnya, tendangan bebas Nani mengenai tangan David McGoldrick di kotak terlarang sehingga wasit memberikan hadiah penalti untuk MU. Nani sukses mengeksekusinya.

Pada menit ke-57 dan 63, pergantian pemain terjadi di kubu MU. Pertama, Darron Gibson masuk menggantikan Michael Carrick, kemudian Wayne Rooney masuk menggantikan Danny Welbeck. Masuknya mereka berdua semakin menambah gol bagi MU. Rooney memberikan assist matang kepada Darron Gibson dan Gibson berhasil memasukkan bola ke gawang Southampton pada menit ke-81.

Dengan hasil ini, MU lolos ke babak 16 besar Piala FA dan akan menghadapi Tottenham Hotspur pada bulan Februari nanti.

Fergie Mengizinkan Ronaldo Pulang Kampung

Musim ini performa Cristiano Ronaldo menurun dibandingkan musim lalu. Kondisi ini membuat Fergie pusing. Fergie sedang memeras otak untuk mengembalikan ketajaman Pemain Terbaik Eropa 2008 itu.

Menjelang duel maut melawan Chelsea di stadion Old Trafford pada 11 Januari 2009 mendatang, kabarnya Ferguson bakal mengizinkan Ronaldo pulang kampung ke Portugal. Ronaldo diharapkan bisa mengisi "baterainya" kembali saat berkumpul bersama keluarganya. Sebelumnya, Fergie melakukan hal yang sama pada pemain mudanya yang berasal dari luar Inggris untuk menikmati liburan selama musim dingin. Misalnya, Anderson dan Tevez yang kembali ke Brazil dan Argentina.

Kemungkinan Ronaldo bisa diizinkan pulang ke Madeira seusai laga putaran ketiga Piala FA melawan Southampton di St Mary Stadium, Minggu (4/1). Dengan begitu, dia tidak akan dimainkan dalam leg pertama semifinal Piala Carling menghadapi Derby County di Pride Park Stadium, Rabu (7/1).

Setelah absen dalam latihan pramusim, Ronaldo sempat tampil garang di depan gawang lawan dengan mencetak tujuh gol dalam sembilan partai pertamanya di musim ini. Namun, dalam 11 pertandingan terakhir di semua ajang atau selama dua bulan terakhir, Ronaldo hanya mampu mencetak satu gol, yaitu pada saat mengalahkan Stoke City lima gol tanpa balas pada 15 November lalu.
