Siiip... Manchester United menang lagi! Hasil pertandingan ini membuat MU semakin kokoh di puncak klasemen sementara Liga Inggris. MU berhasil mengalahkan Everton 1-0 di stadion Old Trafford (Minggu, 1/2/2009) dini hari tadi.

MU menang berkat gol tunggal Cristiano Ronaldo pada menit ke-44. Wasit memberikan hadiah penalti kepada MU karena salah satu pemain Everton, Mikel Arteta, menjatuhkan Michael Carrick di kotak terlarang, satu menit sebelum babak pertama selesai. Ronaldo menjadi algojo dan dengan tenang mengarahkan bola ke tengah gawang. Skor 1-0 untuk MU.

Skor 1-0 ini tetap bertahan sampai di penghujung babak kedua dan MU pun menang. Poin MU sekarang menjadi 53. Selisih poin MU dengan Chelsea yang menduduki peringkat kedua menjadi 5 poin. Hasil Pertandingan Piala FA (25/1/2009): Man United vs Tottenham Hotspur 2-1

Manchester United lolos ke babak kelima Piala FA setelah mengalahkan Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 di Old Trafford, Minggu (25/1/2009). Dimitar Berbatov menjadi penentu kemenangan MU setelah dia mencetak gol pada menit ke-36.

Awalnya para pendukung United sempat dibuat terkejut saat Tottenham unggul 1-0. Padahal pertandingan baru memasuki menit kelima. Roman Pavlyuchenko berhasil menyundul bola umpan silang dari sayap kiri. Alhasil, bola melesak masuk ke sisi kiri gawang MU yang dikawal oleh Ben Foster.

Kerja keras MU membuahkan hasil pada menit ke-35. Paul Scholes berhasil menyamakan kedudukan menjadi 1-1 lewat tendangan kerasnya dari luar kotak penalti. Bola meluncur kencang ke dalam gawang tanpa bisa dihalau Ben Alnwick, kiper Tottenham.

Satu menit kemudian, giliran Berbatov yang membuat gol. Dia berhasil memanfaatkan umpan panjang yang dilepaskan Michael Carrick dengan baik. Skor pun menjadi 2-1 untuk MU.

Pada babak kedua, MU tampil dengan hampir sebagian besar pemain muda. Hasil Pertandingan Carling Cup (Leg II): MU vs Derby County 4-2

Manchester United berhasil melangkah ke Final Piala Carling setelah mengalahkan Derby County dengan skor 4-2 di Old Trafford. MU menang dengan agregat 4-3.

MU unggul 3-0 hingga babak I selesai. Gol pertama tercipta pada menit ke-16 lewat tendangan keras Luis Nani. Tanpa kawalan, Nani membawa bola ke dekat kotak penalti dan menghantamnya dengan kaki kanan. Enam menit kemudian, John O'Shea memperbesar selisih gol. Memanfaatkan umpan Tevez dengan baik, O'Shea yang lolos dari jebakan offside melepaskan tendangan dari jarak dekat ke gawang Derby County.
